Five year review of Equality Scheme
All statutory authorities are obliged to review their Equality Schemes after 5 years.
The immediate purpose of the five year review is to allow public authorities, through a process of self assessment, to review their approved schemes. It is a formal review of the scheme to evaluate the DHSSPS effectiveness in meeting its statutory duties. The DHSSPS review was submitted to the Equality Commission in May 2006. A staff survey was carried out during December 2005 and January 2006 to ensure that personal experiences of complying with the statutory equality obligations under Section 75 of the NI Act 1998 informed the outcome of the review. There were 330 responses to the online survey which targeted all identifiable users within the Core Department (approximately 1200 staff). The survey findings can be accessed by selecting the link below.
