Dr Jocelyn Cornwell
Dr Jocelyn Cornwell is an
independent healthcare consultant. Having originally trained as a sociologist and ethnographer
in Cambridge and London, she worked in the NHS, the Audit Commission and the Department of Health. She
was a founding director of the Commission for Health Improvement. Jocelyn’s interests lie in the organisational systems, processes and
behaviours required to achieve high-quality, safe patient care.
She
is the director of the Point of Care at the Kings Fund, an action and research programme working to
make acute hospital care more patient-centred and strategic advisor to the Board of the Picker Institute
Europe. She is the chairman of Connect UK and formerly sat on the board of the Mental Health Foundation.
Professor Robert Stout
Bob Stout was Professor of
Geriatric Medicine at Queen's University, Belfast from 1976 to 2007 and Dean of the Faculty of Medicine
and Health Sciences at Queen's from 1991-2001. He was Director of Research and Development for
Northern Ireland Health and Social Care from 2001-2008.He was a member of the Southern Health and Social Services Board from
1982-1991, non-executive director of the Eastern Health and Social Services Board from 1992-2002 and
a member of the Northern Ireland Health and Social Services Council from 1982-1985. He was a member
of the General Medical Council from 1991-2002 and the Royal Commission on Long Term Care 1998-1999.
He was President of the British Geriatrics Society 2002-2004 and is a Fellow of the Academy of
Medical Sciences.
Currently he is vice chair and medical director of the Northern Ireland
Clinical Excellence Awards Committee, Chair of the Board of Governors of Edgehill Theological College,
joint chair of the Centre for Ageing Research and Development in Ireland, and a committee member of
the Stroke Association, Northern Ireland, and Extra Care.
Eleanor Hayes
Eleanor Hayes is a qualified
Nurse and Midwife who is the Principal Consultant, Hayes Healthcare Consulting, a business she established
in 2007. She has a BSc Hons in Nursing and MSc in Health and Social Services Management. Eleanor has 34 years experience working within the HPSS in N.I. She
was previously employed as the Director of Nursing and Governance in the Belfast City Hospital Trust
from 2003 to 2007 and prior to that as Director of Nursing and Governance in Green Park Healthcare Trust
from 1996 to 2003.
Eleanor’s clinical and managerial experience was initially within the
Regional Intensive Care Unit of the Royal Group of Hospitals from 1981.
Eleanor has a particular interest in the Governance agenda and was a
Reviewer with the former Commission for Healthcare Improvement (CHI) England. She was involved
in establishing the Regional Governance Network in N.I. and was vice chair until 2007. She chaired a
sub group of the network to develop guidelines for Service Reviews or Look Back exercises and these
have been used recently within the U.K. and Ireland.
Eleanor has been a professional member of the Northern Ireland Practice
and Education Council, (NIPEC) since 2004.
She currently provides a range of services both locally and internationally
for clients within the Independent, Private and Educational sectors through her business Hayes Healthcare
Consulting. This includes service reviews, development of policy and strategy, training and development
and research.
