- RQIA Publishes Review of IV Sedation in General
Dental Practice
In 2009, as part of its planned programme of reviews, RQIA undertook a review of intravenous sedation use in general dental practice which identified areas for improvement in a number of practices. As a result, RQIA was asked by DHSSPS to carry out a further follow-up review. This review focused on safe practice, and makes a number of recommendations aimed at assisting practices to improve patient safety.

- GDC to meet registrants in Northern Ireland
The General Dental Council (GDC), which regulates all dental professionals in the UK, is to begin a series of events by speaking directly to its registrants in Northern Ireland.
On 12 January 2011 dental professionals in Northern Ireland will have the opportunity to meet GDC staff face to face, learn more about how its work affects them, tell them what they think of the GDC’s Standards guidance, give their views on revalidation and get the answers to questions they want to ask.
