Environmental Cleanliness
During 2005, the Environmental Cleanliness Reference Group, containing senior HPSS personnel and Department representatives, developed a regional strategy. This strategy, which was called Cleanliness Matters, and the supporting toolkit, were officially launched by the Minister on 5 October 2005. These two documents together with a supporting controls assurance standard, were issued to the HPSS on 11 October.
As part of the regional strategy, KPMG carried out an independent baseline assessment of the standard of environmental cleanliness in HSS Trusts. The report was released on 10th October 2006. A follow up independent audit, covering acute hospitals was carried out in late 2007/early 2008 and the report released on 3rd March 2008.
