HPSS Superannuation Scheme
GP Doctors who can Join the Scheme as GP Locum Medical Practitioners
If you are a GP qualified doctor you will be able to join the Scheme for HPSS GP Locum work provided you:
- are on a Medical Performers List of a *HSS Board,
- are deputising for or providing additional GMS services to a HPSS GP or HPSS GP Practice or deputising for an Out of Hours Provder (OOHP), all of whom must be registered as an approved HPSS Scheme Employing Authority,
- apply to Central Services Agency (CSA), not more than 10 weeks after the end of any period of GP locum work, enclosing your forms GP Locum A & B or C & D,
- **forward all your employee (6%) Scheme contributions to CSA with Locum forms.
*To be able to pension HPSS GP Locum work you must be on the Medical Performers List of the Board in whose area the work is performed.
**If you deputise for an OOHs GP you must complete Locum forms C & D and forward these to CSA together with your employee (6%) plus employer (7%) Scheme contributions (ie 13% of you OOH pensionable pay).
If you perform Out of Hours work on a regular basis rather than deputising or covering for an absent colleague, then this is not regarded as pensionable Locum work and you must not record this work on forms GP Locum C&D. This work will be recorded as an Assistant Practitioner on the form GP SOLO. This form and the relevant information about its completion can be found on the homepage of this website under section 'Superannuation Forms'.
