Welcome to the HSC Pension Service
The HSC Pension Service administers the HSC Pension Scheme.
Membership of the Scheme is open to:
- HSC employees
- HSC medical, dental, ophthalmic practitioners and assistants
- GP practice staff and some employees of certain approved organisations
- Some locums and Out of Hours providers’ staff
This site contains information for members, former and retired members as well as employers and medical advisors.
In General, members who joined the Scheme on or before 31 March 2008 will be members of the 1995 Section of the Scheme. However, those who leave the scheme and rejoin at a later date, may only (depending on the length of break in membership), be eligible to rejoin the 2008 section.

The key features of the 1995 Section are:-
- Normal pension age of 60
- Minimum pension age 50
- Accrual rate of 1/80th of Pensionable Pay
- Automatic fixed lump sum on retirement
- Option to increase the fixed lump sum on retirement
Members who joined the scheme for the first time on or after 1 April 2008 will belong to the 2008 Section of the Scheme. This may also apply to former members of the 1995 Section who have rejoined the scheme after a break in service.

The key features of the 2008 Section are:-
- Normal pension age of 65
- minimum pension age 55
- Pension draw down (take portion of pension and continue in pensionable employment)
- Accrual rate of 1/60th of Reckonable Pay
- No Automatic lump sum on retirement
- Option to give up pension for lump sum on retirement
