Comment from the Director of HPSS Human Resources

The Health and Personal Social Services (HPSS) is the largest single employer with more than 70,000 staff in Northern Ireland. As the largest employer we can offer you a wide range of employment opportunities where you can make a difference and contribute to local healthcare provision. The HPSS Careers Handbook, leaflets and CD Rom have been designed to provide comprehensive information on more than 30 different career opportunities in Northern Ireland today. The literature contains details on posts, skills, requirements, training, professional qualifications, career pathways and how you can apply and where to obtain further information.
Employment in the health and social care sector means being part of a vital team providing essential patient/client centred services to our population.

The Career Package

The package includes a conference backdrop (approx 4m width and 2m height) featuring the HPSS team, to be used at careers exhibitions etc. There are 5 such backdrops located within the 4 Board areas which can be borrowed by Trusts.
Also available is a HPSS Career Handbook (PDF 1392 KB) which is a reference for these careers. In addition to this there are also 35 individual career leaflets. There is also a CD Rom which contains all of the information in the handbook.
It is hoped that this material could be used at careers exhibitions and displayed in Trusts eg in entrance halls and GP surgeries etc.
The literature can be downloaded from HPSS Careers Handbook on this site or ordered from the Department by contacting:
