Draft Budget Consultation Events with Health and Social Care Staff

Health Minister Michael McGimpsey is in the process of carrying out a series of themed meetings with health service staff to hear their views and concerns about the draft budget which is currently out for consultation.  Meetings will also be held with staff from the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service staff throughout the consultation process.

The consultation roadshow timetable is as follows:

  • 29 November - Belfast Health and Social Care (Acute services staff) – minutes of meeting
  • 7 December - Southern HSC Trust (Children’s services staff)
  • 12 December - Northern HSC Trust – (Primary/Community care staff)
  • 13 December - Western HSC Trust – (Mental Health/Learning Disability staff)
  • 19 December - South Eastern HSC Trust – (Elderly services staff/Northern Ireland Fire Service)
The Minister said: “I want to hear at first hand from the people who deliver vital support and life-saving services to our population, what resources they need to do their job properly and deliver a world class health service.
“There has been considerable debate about the draft budget in the Assembly. It is right and important that the draft budget is discussed openly. I don’t believe the draft budget as it currently stands will allow me to deliver on my promise to create a world class health service.
“The consultation period for the draft budget will close at the start of January. Everyone must respond to the consultation and make their views known about the importance of the health service to them, their families and the future generation.”
