ISA decision-making process guidance
The Independent Safeguarding Authority’s decision-making process is
the method used by the ISA’s caseworkers and the ISA Board to decide whether it is appropriate that
an individual should be barred from working with children or vulnerable adults. It includes the use
of a Structured Judgment Process which will aid in determining whether an individual presents an unacceptable
risk of harm to children and/or vulnerable adults. It was developed by the Board of the ISA with
specialist advice. Guidance on the decision making process has now been published on the ISA’s
website and can be found at
VBS Information Roadshow - powerpoint presentation now available
A Vetting & Barring Scheme (VBS) Information Roadshow was held in

responsible for delivery of the VBS across Northern Ireland, England and Wales; AccessNI, the Criminal
Records Bureau (CRB) and the Independent Safeguarding Authority (ISA). The presentation made at this
event is now available to download.
