Emergency Plans

Emergency Planning Branch also has lead responsibility for the development of policy, guidance and advice on planning for human infectious diseases including Pandemic Influenza, Avian Influenza and Smallpox and the provision of health countermeasures for which DHSSPS is a Lead Government Department (LGD).

In doing so we support the Chief Medical Officer with his responsibility for Public Health Policy, and the Health Minister.
