Bowel Cancer Screening
The Bowel Cancer Screening Programme commenced roll-out across Northern Ireland in April 2010.
This screening programme is the third cancer population based screening programme in Northern Ireland, following cervical cancer screening and breast cancer screening.
The aim of the bowel cancer screening programme is to decrease mortality from colorectal cancer in the general population by inviting all eligible men and women to complete a Faecal Occult Blood Test (FOBT) kit every two years.
Screening in the first instance is being offered to men and women aged between 60 and 69.
