Safety, Quality and Standards

This document contains the Department's policy statement on safety and aims to draw together key themes to promote service user safety in the Health and Social Care.  It intends to build on excisting systems and good practice, to bring about clear and consistent policy and action which can be reviewed in light of advances and developments.  It does not aim to identify or replace existing policies and procedures, particularly those relating to statutory health and safety functions, or staff or visitors safety, but rather focuses on safety in terms of improvement of quality of care through enhanced clinical and social care governance.
