Social Services Inspectorate
The Inspection Programme
The content of our inspection programme is agreed following consultation
with the Department, Boards, Trusts and outside professional, voluntary and other representative bodies.
The Central Personal Social Services Advisory Committee, established
under the 1972 Health and Personal Social Services (Northern Ireland) order oversees the inspection
programme. This Committee is comprised of representatives from professional, voluntary and educational
bodies and its role is to make proposals for inspection and endorse the inspection programme. (These
arrangements do not apply to the inspection of Criminal Justice Services.)
Agreement to the content of the programme is also sought from Ministers.
