Contextual Information

National Statistics Consultation on Proposed Changes to the Content and Source used to compile Official Hospital Theatres Activity Information.
The proposal suggests that (i) the source of data used to collect and compile official information on availability and use of operating theatres in Northern Ireland should change from the Korner Hospital KH08 aggregate return to a patient-level dataset taken from the Regional Theatre Management System and available to the Department via the Data Warehouse and (ii) the content of information published should no longer include information on theatre sessions, while information on cases operated on should be more detailed.
The consultation closed on 15th July 2013.

Episode Based Data

Please note that admission based data is not equivalent to episode based data, as each admission may be made up of one or more consultant episodes.
For information on the number of inpatient and day case finished consultant episodes please see the Episode Based Acute Hospital Inpatient and Day Case Activity publication:-
