This publication presents information on inpatient and day case admission activity at Health and Social Care Trusts in Northern Ireland during the year ending 31 March 2012. It details information on Available Beds, Occupied Beds, Occupancy Rates, Average Length of Stay, Theatre Utilisation and Hospital Births. All data are presented by HSC Trust, hospital and specialty

Please note that admission based data is not equivalent to episode based data, as each admission may be made up of one or more consultant episodes.

On 24th May 2012 the Department instructed the HSC Board to undertake an audit of the clinical coding related to abortions in Northern Ireland to assess the accuracy of the data produced. A statement was made by the Minister for Health Social Services and Public Safety to the Assembly detailing the findings of the audit on 22^nd August 2012.
